Course Structure This course consists of 180 credits distributed over 1 year for the full time course. Two thirds of the content (120 credits) consists of taught modules. One third of the content (60 credits) is the individual research project, which is carried out in the summer.
In term one you'll develop a firm base of general knowledge and techniques for further specialised management study. Delivered by leading academics in Birmingham Business School, the management content is based on real-world examples, drawing on the expertise and reputation of the Business School to deliver a high quality experience.
Topics include strategy, innovation, marketing, organisational behaviour and financial management.
In term two you'll move onto your chosen pathway. With modules delivered by academics in the School of Engineering, you'll explore various aspects of Highways Engineering: design, technology, management, economics, traffic safety and sustainability.
You'll draw upon the School's wealth of research experience and industrial links. You'll also start considering a topic for your research project.
The summer is dedicated to your engineering management research project. You'll work closely with an academic supervisor on a related research project.
This could be experimental, lab based or industry facing, theoretical or practice based, involve modelling, or be a mixture of all three elements.
This project will be concluded by the end of August with marks and feedback delivered in September.
