Course Structure This 1 year full-time programme teaches research-led operations management skills that are sought after in both the civil engineering and building industries.
In term one you'll develop a firm base of general knowledge and techniques for further specialised management study. Delivered by leading academics in Birmingham Business School, the management content is based on real-world examples, drawing on the expertise and reputation of the Business School to deliver a high quality experience.
Topics include strategy, innovation, marketing, organisational behaviour and financial management.
In term two you'll move onto your chosen pathway. Through exploration of operations and civil engineering management principles and best practice (including contracts, risk, sustainability and digital tools) by academics from the School of Engineering, you'll draw upon the School's wealth of research experience and industrial links.
You'll also start to consider the topic for your research project.
The summer is dedicated to your engineering management research project. You'll work closely with an academic supervisor on a related research project.
This could be experimental, lab based or industry facing, theoretical or practice based, involve modelling, or be a mixture of all three elements.
This project will be concluded by the end of August with marks and feedback delivered in September.
