This course enable you to apply scientific knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to find solutions for technical, societal and commercial problems. On this comprehensive and varied course, you will acquire the essential competencies and engineering awareness for a successful career in electronics based industries. You will develop your skills so that you can design systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety and cost. The programme aims to emphasise analogue and digital circuit design, power electronics and electrical systems, control and microwave and millimetre wave technologies; areas with a major skills shortage worldwide and particularly in the UK. The School has collaborations, partnerships, industrial placement schemes and public engagement programmes with organisations, including Vodafone, Google, IBM, BT, NASA, BBC and Microsoft. The MSc can be studied either part-time (two years) or full-time (one year). Please see our website for more information.
You'll be part of an academic school with 125 years' experience in electrical engineering and electronics, where our expert academics will guide you through theory, lab practice, simulation and project work. You will learn to design complex electronic systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety and cost.
You will devise and carry out a major dissertation, which you can choose to do in collaboration with an industrial partner (subject to availability).
All students of this course will undertake four compulsory modules:
Students will need to choose one of the two streams:
Electrical Engineering (default stream):
