Today’s digital society depends on reliable, secure and effective computer systems. These systems support the services we use every day, from healthcare, banking and transport to retail, communication and smart devices.
Computing is now embedded in almost every part of modern life. Devices, networks and data interact at increasing scale and complexity, often handling information that is both highly personal and widely distributed. Understanding how these systems work, and how to design and develop them responsibly, is central to meeting the needs of society and industry.
The course is structured into three blocks: two semesters with four taught modules in each, followed by a summer-long project.
Our entry requirements are listed using standard UK undergraduate degree classifications i.e. first-class honours, upper second-class honours and lower second-class honours. To learn the equivalent for your country, please choose it from the drop-down below.
2:2 honours degree in any subject. Note that applicants with a recent degree in a subject area related to Computer Science are advised to apply for MSc Advanced Computer Science, or another specialist MSc option. Applicants with a non-standard background will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
