Explore how AI and data are transforming culture, society, politics and everyday life. AI is increasingly embedded in everyday life, from chatbots and image generation to recommendation algorithms and autonomous agents. As these technologies develop, they raise important questions about privacy, power and the evolving relationship between humans and machines.
Our MA in AI and Data in Culture and Society explores how AI is reshaping social, cultural, political and economic processes and generating knowledge. You’ll examine how data are transformed into representations, models and forms of machine memory that shape what AI systems can know, predict and do.
This research-driven multidisciplinary programme combines technical skills with humanities and social science perspectives. You’ll learn to collect and analyse data, programme in Python (including AI assisted coding), use emerging AI tools and assistants and explore machine learning concepts, including representations, embeddings and model behaviour. You’ll also examine the legal and policy frameworks shaping AI and data, including through a module taught by The Dickson Poon School of Law.
