  • For 2027/28 entry, this course requires English language Band 3 which is equivalent to IELTS Academic 7 with 6.5 in each component. See our English language requirements page for the accepted tests and qualifications, required results and exemptions. To apply for this course, please fill out your application online and upload all relevant documents, including: Personal Statement – outlining why you wish to take this particular course. You may wish to explain how the course will feed into your future career plans and/or your research interests. You could describe any relevant professional or academic experience you currently have, and explain how it informs your intentions to study. You will need to make sure your statement is specific to our course and institution, and not generic. You may be asked to provide further details if your statement is too generic. For this course, you may also wish to provide details of any relevant work experience in journalism or media writing (this could include formal work experience but also blogs, professional social media management etc.)
  • Degree Transcript/Provisional Transcript – for any and all completed degree courses, we need your final transcript of marks with a clear overall grade. If you have not yet finished your course, please provide a provisional transcript of marks received to date. If your transcript is not in English, please provide an official translation as well as the original documents.
  • A copy of your valid passport.
  • Accepted proof of English Language Proficiency if required.
  • If you are an overseas applicant, a completed Immigration History Form [DOCX] along with any current or past UK visas you may hold, and/or biometric residency cards.

If you feel your application would be enhanced by submitting a CV demonstrating your journalistic work experience please do upload that with your application.

If you do not include all the necessary documents listed above your application may be returned to you and the admission process could be delayed.

Please note you may be invited to attend an interview, either online or in person.
