Join Dr. Wei Gu's Laboratory at the BeOne Institute We are seeking highly motivated, independent, and creative Research Investigators with expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), mucosal immunology, gastrointestinal biology, and translational research to join Dr. Wei Gu's laboratory at the BeOne Institute. Dr. Wei Gu joined BeOne in November 2022 as Research Chief of the BeOne Institute. His research program focuses on advancing both fundamental and translational understanding of the phenotypic, metabolic, and functional dynamics of immune and stromal cells during disease progression and therapeutic intervention. A major focus of the laboratory is the integration of immunology, systems biology, bioinformatics, multi-omics technologies, and advanced human disease models to elucidate disease mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic opportunities for inflammatory bowel disease and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Through multidisciplinary approaches, the laboratory seeks to generate actionable insights that accelerate target discovery, biomarker development, and next-generation therapeutic innovation. ________________________________________ The successful candidate will: • Investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving intestinal inflammation, mucosal injury, tissue remodeling, and disease progression in IBD. • Identify and validate novel therapeutic targets using translational and human disease-relevant approaches. • Apply multi-omics technologies, systems biology, and bioinformatics methodologies to uncover disease-driving pathways and biomarkers, in close collaboration with cross-functional informatics teams. • Develop and utilize innovative disease models, including organoids, organ-on-chip systems, and advanced multicellular platforms, to better understand disease pathogenesis and therapeutic response. • Explore the interactions among epithelial, stromal, and immune cells that shape intestinal tissue homeostasis and inflammatory disease states. • Contribute to the discovery and development of next-generation therapeutics for IBD and related immune-mediated diseases. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who: • Hold or be expected to obtain by July 2027, a Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Gastrointestinal Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. • Demonstrate a strong track record of scientific achievement, reflected by high-quality publications and innovative research contributions. • Possess expertise in one or more of the following areas: o Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) o Mucosal immunology o Gastrointestinal biology o Organoid and organ-on-chip technologies o Systems biology and multi-omics analysis • Have the ability to independently design and execute research projects while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams. • Exhibit strong scientific communication and problem-solving skills.
