A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 90 credits in earth science.
Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
Do you want to learn about the forces and processes that shape Earth's surface through time, and how these are linked to changes in our climate and environment? Are you concerned about the human imprint on the landscape that surrounds you? The Master's Programme in Earth Science, specialising in Physical Geography, provides you with the knowledge, methods and skills to address these and other questions. The specialisation in Physical Geography in the Master's programme in Earth Science has a focus on environmental change and landscape development over different scales in time and space. It further has a special emphasis on processes relevant to cold, high-latitude regions, such as glacier dynamics, glacial and periglacial geomorphology, and cold regions hydrology. The programme combines courses in glaciology, geomorphology and environmental and climate change with methodological courses such as GIS and field methods. During the programme, you can expect to: develop numerical modelling skills to simulate glaciological or geomorphic processes in order to reconstruct or predict past or future trends and events; understand how the climate and environment have changed from both quantitative and qualitative analyses of nature's natural archives; and learn about human-Earth interaction
