Do you want to design and analyse embedded systems in a world shaped by software, connectivity and data? Uppsala University's Master's Programme in Embedded Systems takes a computer science and systems perspective, focusing on software design, real-time behaviour, and performance under resource constraints. You will gain strong foundations in operating systems, networks, and embedded programming, and apply machine learning and data-driven methods. Embedded systems are at the core of modern technology, from connected devices and vehicles to critical infrastructure. This programme takes a computer science and systems-oriented approach, focusing on how software interacts with hardware under constraints such as limited resources, real-time requirements, and reliability demands. You will build strong foundations in real-time systems, computer architecture, networks, and embedded programming. These are applied in the design, implementation, and analysis of embedded software, combining theoretical understanding with practical system development. The programme also offers opportunities to explore data-driven and machine learning methods in embedded and networked systems. The programme is suited to students interested in software, systems, and the behaviour of complex computing systems, p
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. The main field of study must be engineering, mathematics or computer science. Also required is: 20 credits in mathematics; and 30 credits in computer science, including courses in programming and computer architecture.
Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
