Our one-year MSc Mathematical and Theoretical Physics course is designed to equip you with advanced mathematical tools that can be applied in major areas of scientific intrigue, from black holes and dark matter to quantum computing and general relativity.
Whether you want to advance your understanding of the topics you found most interesting during your undergraduate studies or gain the skills needed to achieve your goals, our range of optional modules allow you to focus on the topics that are most important to you. Through these modules, you’ll have the opportunity to explore topics spanning machine learning, financial mathematics, mathematical modelling, quantum field theory, particle physics and cosmology.
Around a third of your time will be spent on your own research project. You’ll investigate an important problem in a research area of your choice, working under the supervision of an active researcher who is an expert in your chosen area.
Minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in Mathematics or Physics with relevant modules.
