You will also take tutorials and undertake independent study relevant to your chosen research project for your MPhil thesis. You will also receive supervision tutorials relevant to your thesis topic. You will take three subject option courses during the degree, two in the first year and one in the second year, as well as two research methods modules. The list of available options in the school varies from year to year, but are chosen from around twelve to fifteen that are available, with topics including: Focusing on the relationship between anthropological theory and research practice, these modules equip students with the skills to design, conduct and evaluate independent research. Particular emphasis is placed on a range of ethnographic methods, ethics and hands-on exercises to develop practical skills. Students choose two out of a typical selection of 6-8 modules.
