The Master of Art Curatorship has been taught at the University of Melbourne for nearly 30 years. This comprehensive program incorporates theoretical, historical and practical study units that focus on the changing role of art museums and arts organisations in collecting, interpreting and exhibiting art. The Master of Art Curatorship is a 200 point (2 years full-time/4 years part-time) program, however if you have completed previous study in this discipline, you may be eligible for entry to the 150 point program (1.5 years full-time/3 years part-time option).
To be considered for entry into the 150 point program, you must:
Have a bachelor degree (AQF7) in a cognate (relevant) discipline, with a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 65%, or equivalent. And
Have completed below prerequisite subject(s): at least 50 credit points at second year level or above in subjects requiring written and analytical assessment.
Cognate (relevant) disciplines include: Art History, Art Theory, Cultural Industries, Visual Culture, Design, Architecture, Fine Arts.
Please note this is not a complete list of possible disciplines. Relevance is always assessed on a case-by-case basis.
