This programme brings together mathematical finance, optimization and computational methods, giving students the flexibility to explore the quantitative challenges facing financial services, energy markets and other data-driven industries.
Students develop a strong understanding of derivative pricing, portfolio optimization and financial risk management, alongside skills in stochastic analysis, programming and optimization.
The programme also includes courses with an AI focus, where students explore stochastic optimization methods used to train and fine-tune neural networks. Alongside the theoretical foundations, students gain practical experience in modelling, programming, simulation, data analysis and optimization, as well as developing their ability to carry out independent research.
Graduates are well placed to pursue careers across asset management, banking and the wider financial services sector. Potential roles include:
In this video our academic staff and students outline what to expect as part of a Masters in the area of Financial Mathematics.
A UK 2:1 degree, or its international equivalent, in mathematics or a mathematical subject such as statistics, physics or engineering.
Previous study should include calculus and probability at university level.
You must also have relevant programming experience (at least one semester undergraduate programming course, in any language e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, passed at 2:1 level).
