Food Science and Technology enables you to develop foods of the future with focus on taste, health, sustainability, food quality and food safety.

As a graduate in Food Science and Technology, you will be an expert in the latest technologies and production in a food company. The programme offers three specialisations: Plant Based Foods, Dairy Science, and an individual specialisation.

The programme is offered in English.

To apply for admission to the master's programme, you must be enrolled in or have completed either a qualifying bachelor's programme or another relevant Danish or foreign degree programme which the admission board assess fulfil the academic requirements.

You apply for admission through the application portal.

You must meet a number of admission requirements, to apply for the master’s programme. We do not offer pre-assessment of your educational background.

You have legal right of admission, if you hold a bachelor’s degree in:

• Food Science (fødevarer og ernæring) with the specialisation in Quality and Technology from the University of Copenhagen
• Food Science (fødevarer og ernæring) with the specialisation as Food Engineer from the University of Copenhagen

As an applicant with legal right of admission, you are guaranteed a place if you apply by the deadline. You can wait up to three years to exercise your legal right of admission from the time you complete your bachelor’s degree until you start your master’s degree.

If you have completed one of the following bachelor’s degrees and meet the language requirement – English B – you automatically fulfil all the academic admission requirements.

From the University of Copenhagen:

• Food Science (fødevarer og ernæring) with the specialisation in Quality and Technology (you have legal right of admission for the first 3 years)
• Food Science (fødevarer og ernæring) with the specialisation as Food Engineer (you have legal right of admission for the first 3 years)

From Technical University of Denmark:

• Food Analysis
• Food Safety

If you hold a bachelor’s degree, a professional bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a Danish or international university not listed above, you are eligible for admission if the programme includes the following:

• Mathematics (7.5 ECTS credits)
• Statistics (7.5 ECTS credits)
• Chemistry (15 ECTS credits)
• Cell and/or molecular biology (7.5 ECTS credits)
• Food microbiology (7.5 ECTS credits)
• Biochemistry (7.5 ECTS credits)

Bachelor’s degrees that have previously been assessed as qualifying meeting the specified ECTS:

Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science with the specialisation in Nutrition and Health from University of Copenhagen are qualified for admission if the programme includes the following:

• Food Microbiology - NFOB14028U Fødevaremikrobiologi
