📖 项目简介
This 10-month MPhil will consist of taught and research training in translational medical research with themed teaching focusing on key areas of research excellence in the Department of Medicine: translational immunology, pandemic preparedness, cardiovascular and respiratory research, and acute and emergency care. Core taught elements will additionally cover transferable skills; patient and public involvement, engagement and participation in research; and interfacing with the pharmaceutical industry.
The key educational objectives of the course are to:
Provide postgraduate-level knowledge and expertise in translational medical research, understanding how this leads to generating discovery research outputs with direct therapeutic applications and impacts on clinical practice and patient wellbeing.
Train students in the clinical and translational aspects of biomedical research, with particular emphasis on clinical trials, bench to bedside research, the patient-physician interface, the academic-pharmaceutical interface, and research involving the NHS.
Provide transferable knowledge and expertise in the design, analysis and critical appraisal of biomedical research.
Develop skills in planning, conducting, and delivering a research project, including the importance of research culture and effective communication.

Taught Elements
Students will experience a set of core taught elements in addition to choosing three out of four specialized themes hosted in world-leading research centres at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus . Most of the taught material will be delivered in the Michaelmas term (Oct-Dec).
Research Element Students will be supported to choose a host lab where they will conduct a research project (roughly Oct-June) supported by a principal investigator and integrated into the host research group.
Students will be supported to understand their skills, attributes, and aspirations, developing a portfolio for future career aspirations and will be personally mentored throughout the course.
Students will receive formative feedback throughout the course from the teaching team, their host research group and their peers. Students will receive termly formal feedback reports via the online Postgraduate Feedback and Reporting System. Examples of structured opportunities for formative feedback are given below (specific details may vary following student feedback):
A research project plan outlining the rationale for the research project, including the proposed study design and methods will be formatively assessed by the assigned research supervisor, who will provide detailed feedback to the student.
A named second supervisor advisor will provide additional scientific training, practical supervision, discussion and feedback on the research project.

If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.
Students will be best prepared for the course through a degree in biological, natural sciences or medicine. Alternatively, applications will be considered from those holding a degree of equal status in related subject areas where the applicant can demonstrate significant relevant preparation for this MPhil course. Do get in touch if you are unsure if your background is appropriate for the course and we'll be happy to discuss individual circumstances. Intercallating students studying for medical degrees and practicing clinicans are encouraged to apply.
