Machine learning, sensor networks, and the Internet of Things are key drivers of the latest industrial revolution, known as Industry 4.0. These fast-evolving technologies are creating a major skills gap that must be addressed to meet development and maintenance demands. This specialised MSc in Internet of Things (IoT) with AI is designed to develop experts in building and deploying advanced IoT systems powered by intelligent machine learning algorithms.
The programme offers a deep understanding of IoT frameworks, computer networks and security, communication protocols, and data analysis, along with expertise in machine learning techniques, including neural networks, supervised and unsupervised learning, and deep learning.
You'll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge IoT platforms and machine learning tools, equipping you to design innovative, data-driven solutions for real-world challenges. The course also stresses ethical and secure IoT data management, with a strong focus on privacy, responsible innovation, and regulatory compliance.
The programme is designed to provide a comprehensive educational experience, combining structured learning with independent self-study, preparing students for careers in the IoT industry. The units in the programme will cover essential topics for aspiring IoT engineers, providing a comprehensive foundation. The teaching process is designed to cultivate independent learning, enabling students to adapt to new and emerging concepts in this fast-growing discipline. Emphasis will be given on critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical application through these units.
The programme offers students the chance to enhance their analytical, communication, and experimental abilities. Throughout the programme, students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in scientific writing, oral presentations, teamwork, problem-solving, utilisation of library and internet resources, and time management. Formative assessments and small-group tutorials will encourage students to actively seek and appreciate constructive feedback to enhance their self-awareness. Each student will be matched with a dedicated personal tutor who will provide both academic and pastoral support, engage in ongoing progress discussions, and assist students in navigating career choices.
