The Law and Finance MSc at UCL is an interdisciplinary course exploring how legal frameworks, financial markets and economic forces shape corporate and financial transactions. It is delivered jointly by the UCL Faculty of Laws, UCL School of Management and UCL Department of Economics.
In today’s global economy, understanding the connections between law, finance and economics is increasingly important. The course brings these perspectives together, enabling you to assess the commercial and financial drivers behind transactions alongside the legal and regulatory frameworks that shape them, and develop the knowledge and skills to operate across legal, commercial and financial domains.
You will develop a rigorous understanding of finance and financial economics alongside the legal and regulatory frameworks governing corporations and financial markets. You will apply these insights to corporate and financial transactions, including corporate financing decisions, mergers and acquisitions, take-public and take-private transactions, and corporate reorganisations and restructurings. You will learn to assess the commercial logic behind transactions and their financial, regulatory and wider implications.
