The Bioscience (Research and Development) with Practice MSc is an intensive, preclinical science-based course designed for students with a biomedical background who want to deepen their understanding of how novel therapies are developed. The course explores therapeutic approaches, including stem cell and gene therapies, the science of disease and treatment strategies, and the practical application and translation of research into new therapies.
The course is designed to develop practical skills and strategies for shaping research practice for identifying science-based solutions and innovations, and shaping opportunities for these to be developed and actualised in lab-based and real world contexts.
The extended lab-based project in Year 2 includes a grant writing module based on the topic you are about to research and develops your ability to plan future research in the form of a funding application. Working in a new lab, usually overseas, is also a cultural change which is character-forming and evidence of maturity of thought, and this is very attractive for future employers.
