Landscape Architecture MLA is an accredited master’s course committed to climate-focused landscape design and environmental stewardship. It equips you with the technical skills and knowledge needed to respond innovatively to ecological, urban and social challenges through your work with natural and built environments. The course will enable you to progress towards a career as a Chartered Landscape Architect.
You will be prepared to address sustainability and respond to current challenges such as biodiversity loss, climate change and ecological crises.
Design-led teaching is central to the course, and Design Studios form a core component. This structure gives you the opportunity to develop your own approach to landscape architecture. Within the Studios, tutors present unique, rigorous, challenging, and even radical intellectual positions, providing a strong identity for students working individually and in groups, with field and site study trips giving you the opportunity to explore real-world environments.
On this course, you will gain a highly specialist skill set and the ability to design using a range of techniques and research methods. Developing an in-depth knowledge of the discipline of landscape architecture, you hone your skills in creative problem solving, making decisions and propositions in complex, challenging, ambiguous and open-ended situations.
You will refine your communication skills through seminar presentations, written work, design reviews and exhibitions, while learning to advocate for your ideas and respond to people from a wide range of backgrounds within a professional context.
