This flexible, interdisciplinary Master’s course helps a broad range of professionals acquire the skills, the theory, and the critical awareness to design, use, and assess technologies for education.
In line with the Institute of Education (IOE)’s holistic approach to the wider contexts of education, you’ll see how these technologies play out across workplaces, home and social settings, as well as formal school and higher education environments. You’ll develop your practice upon a robust theoretical and pedagogical base that will allow you to navigate and make informed decisions in an educational era of rapid change and generative AI adoption. The course deliberately avoids both uncritical enthusiasm and blanket scepticism towards technology, encouraging students to develop their own informed position.
As part of a diverse cohort of teachers, designers, engineers, policymakers, and other professionals, you’ll have opportunities to work in interdisciplinary teams under conditions designed to mirror real-life workplace practice. Together, you’ll exchange knowledge and achieve learning and design outcomes. Whatever your current role or background, you’ll acquire the technical skills and the pedagogical foundations to bridge the communication gaps between education and technology.
As a working professional, this course develops a broad range of critical and practical skills that complement your existing specialism. You will explore, design, and critically evaluate educational technologies, allowing you to lead or work in multidisciplinary teams to accomplish a variety of education and technology goals.
