The Digital Humanities MA is an interdisciplinary course designed for students who want to study how digital innovation is reshaping culture, research, and society.
The course offers a combination of hands-on training in digital tools and methods such as data analysis, web development, digitisation, and AI literacy alongside rigorous engagement with key theoretical and ethical debates surrounding technology’s role in society. Students are encouraged to examine how digital platforms, algorithms, and infrastructures influence knowledge production, cultural heritage, and public discourse.
This integration of academic and practical experience prepares graduates for a variety of careers, including digital strategy, cultural data analysis, digital archiving, user experience design, and research in both academic and commercial settings.
With an interdisciplinary background that combines humanities and technology, strong communication and leadership skills, and embedded exposure to collaboration strategies, graduates from the course will be attractive to employers with real-world problems to solve.
Students will graduate ready to contribute to several fields, including technology companies, policy organisations, government, consultancy, data analysis, information management, charitable and third sector organisations, the creative industries, and cultural heritage. They may also choose to go on to further study and would be a strong candidate for PhD degrees within the fields of information studies, digital humanities, publishing, library science, and archival science or beyond, as well as in adjacent areas such as the humanities, social sciences, and technology degrees.
