The Physics for Health and Life track is aimed at the application of physical methods in healthcare and for understanding processes taking place within the smallest units of life systems. The track deals with the development of new image acquisition and processing techniques as well as the quantitative analysis of two-, three- and four-dimensional images of the human body obtained through such systems for medical diagnosis and disease monitoring. The track also deals with state-of-the-art radiotherapy techniques, allowing you to apply physics, physical transport phenomena, and nanotechnology to explore and engineer biology and focus on the functioning of single cells in all their complexity down to the molecular level. Course modules Examples of elective modules related to this track are Medical Imaging Signals and Systems, Advanced Digital Image Processing, Medical Physics of Photon and Proton Therapy, Radiological Health Physics, Biological Transport Phenomena, Soft Matter Physics, Nuclear Medicine, and Physics of Biological Systems. Regardless of the track, the Applied Physics programme also includes mandatory mathematics and ethics modules, and a choice of general advanced physics modules.
Admission to the MSc Applied Physics programme depends on your educational background. See detailed information on application procedures for:
