The Master of Science Programme in Social Studies of Gender explores how gender, together with class, race and sexuality, shape society, culture and relations of power. Combining perspectives from the social sciences and humanities, this two-year programme introduces you to contemporary feminist theories and research. You will develop the tools to critically examine social and cultural processes through intersectional and other critical perspectives.
You will explore the role of gender in social structures, organisations and institutions, and learn how gender intersects with other dimensions of inequality. The programme develops your ability to evaluate policies and translate gender analysis into concrete proposals addressing power relations, inequalities and diversity in social, political and cultural contexts.
The programme prepares you for professional roles that require independent thinking and strong analytical skills, including work in education, development, coordination and casework. It also provides a foundation for doctoral studies and further research in Gender Studies.
