This programme is aimed at singers with a high artistic level who want to prepare for a professional career in opera, music theatre or other forms of staged music performance. The programme runs for two years and is offered by Malmö Academy of Music in close collaboration with Malmö Opera.
As a student, you will study and work in a professional opera environment, with access to one of the largest opera stages in the Nordic region. Teaching takes place both at Malmö Opera and at Malmö Academy of Music, where you will develop through close collaboration with musicians, singers, musical theatre performers, conductors and other professionals in the field of opera.
A central part of the programme is the work-based placement at Malmö Opera. You will have the opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice by working on the opera stage and taking part in its productions. During the programme, you will work with distinguished conductors, directors and coaches and gain experience of the artistic processes that shape a professional opera house.
Alongside this, you will work towards the long-term development of your voice and artistic expression.
General requirements for university studies in Sweden as well as a Bachelor in Music 180 credits or equivalent and successful entrance tests to the Master’s Programme in Music. Exceptions can be made from the basic eligibility requirement of proficiency in Swedish for international students.
