This programme is aimed at those who already hold a Bachelor’s degree in music and want to deepen their knowledge and skills in composition, arranging and music theory. The programme has a clear focus on subject-specific methodology and on developing the knowledge and tools needed to work with music and teaching in a variety of contexts.
Your studies will cover areas including composition, arranging, instrumentation, counterpoint, part-writing, harmonisation, musical form, notation, analysis, structural listening and aural skills. The main emphasis is on classical music, although the programme also covers jazz and traditional song genres.
An important part of the programme is deepening your understanding of musical terminology, parameters and subject literature, and developing your ability to design assignments and teaching materials. The programme provides a foundation for teaching music theory, for example at university level or in preparatory music education.
