General requirements for university studies in Sweden as well as a Bachelor in Music 180 credits or equivalent and successful entrance tests to the Master’s Programme in Music. Exceptions can be made from the basic eligibility requirement of proficiency in Swedish for international students.
This programme is aimed at students who already hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music, or an equivalent qualification, and want to deepen their artistic practice within jazz and improvisational music. The programme is based on a broad understanding of jazz and encompasses a wide range of musical expressions and working methods. Its cross-genre perspective gives you considerable freedom to shape the content of your studies.
A central element of the programme is the development of your own artistic voice. Through advanced studies on your principal instrument, you will strengthen your technical command, musical understanding and improvisational skills. You will work independently to formulate ideas, make artistic choices and realise them through musical projects. At the same time, you will gain experience of ensemble performance and collaborative projects that enhance your responsiveness and your ability to communicate musical ideas in interaction with others.
Together, the different elements of the programme create an environment in which you can deepen your artistry, develop your independence and prepare for a professional career within jazz and improvisational music.
