To be admitted to the programme, the student must hold a bachelor’s degree, including at least 90 credits in a Social Science discipline. English course 6/English level 2 (advanced proficiency).
The programme focuses on the interface between development issues and sustainability challenges. It brings together a range of theories and perspectives to examine what development means, how it takes place and why outcomes vary. It highlights social, institutional and structural change, including the political opportunities and constraints that shape efforts to improve people’s lives. For that, we ask new questions about poverty, food sovereignty, climate change and other integrated issues while exploring pathways to development and critically assessing possible solutions from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The programme will prepare students for post-graduate studies and professional work, be it as a policy maker, practitioner or sustainability officer in government agencies, private firms, or non-governmental organisations.
