This programme equips you for careers in actuarial science, financial engineering, or quantitative risk management. You will learn to build risk models, apply quantitative tools, and report analyses on key contemporary issues. The Master of Science in Actuarial and Financial Engineering (120 ECTS) is a multidisciplinary master’s programme designed to equip students with both theoretical insight and practical skills in five key domains. These areas form the backbone of the curriculum and reflect the diverse challenges and opportunities in the field: Throughout the programme, students are immersed in these key areas through a range of core courses. These core courses are aligned with the syllabus of the IA|BE (Institute of Actuaries in Belgium). In addition, a wide range of elective courses provides the flexibility to specialise further, enabling students to tailor their learning pathway to their individual interests and career aspirations. The Actuarial and Financial Engineering programme offers advanced training in the business domain of insurance. Mathematical and statistical techniques are studied to be able to manage risks, model assets and liabilities and analyse timely topics in actuarial and financial engineering. These skills, combined with a foundation in regulation and professional skills, including reporting and ethics, result in a strong ability to optimise business processes.
