The admissions committee looks for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in a relevant discipline
  • Strong quantitative skills, as demonstrated by good performance in college-level calculus and statistics. College transcript must show both a statistics AND a calculus course with a minimum grade of B+. This does not include courses on statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, or Stata)
  • Relevant global health or public health research experience. The review committee looks for applicants with international research work experience. Most successful applicants have a minimum of one year or more of post-baccalaureate full-time equivalent (FTE) work experience. Examples of relevant experience include health work with a migrant population at the domestic level; substantive policy or advocacy work on a global health issue (e.g. HIV) at the domestic or international level.
  • GRE test scores
  • TOEFL test with a minimum IBT score of 104 , with a minimum of 27 in the writing section and no less than 25 in the remaining 3 sections (listening, reading, and speaking)

All applications must be submitted through SOPHAS – the centralized application service for public health programs . In addition to the application, applicants must submit:

  • Statement of Purpose and Objectives
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume/CV
  • Transcripts/Mark Sheets/Degree Conferral World Education Services Evaluation (for degrees awarded by institutions outside of the U.S.)
  • Standardized Test Scores GRE, MCAT, GMAT, DAT, or LSAT
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo if applicable

Application Deadline: December 1

Applicants may apply to only one degree program. Applications are reviewed in their entirety and decisions are released via email in late February/early March. Decisions are not released until all application components are received.
