Due to recent economic and scientific developments, nowadays fortified interdisciplinary reflection, application and further development of information technology are needed. The master program ‘Information Systems’ amplifies the course offerings in the field of economics at Freie Universität Berlin by adding a socio-technical component.
The program bridges the gap between the economics master courses ‘Management and Marketing’ and ‘Finance, Accounting and Taxation’ and the technical master course ‘Information Technology’. Therefore, the information systems modules will be enhanced by additional modules from the areas of information technology and economics.
The ‘Information Systems’ master program is characterised by a scientific view on information systems, their methodical requirements and their economic implications. The program focuses on business analytics, e-business, IT entrepreneurship, operations research and decision support systems.
Moreover, during the ‘Individual Study or Research’-phase, students get the chance to specialise, depending on their individual interests. Thereby, students receive support from mentors throughout the whole program.
For admittance to the master’s program applicants need to fulfill the following admission requirements:

2. Proof of English language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), if the university degree was not obtained in an English-speaking educational institution
3. The DSH - or German Language University Entrance Exam for Foreign Students - is obligatory for all applicants whose first language is not German and who have earned their initial degree from a university (or equivalent institution) where the language of instruction is not German.
